| January Fête des Rois - 6 January - Event - Various Venues On the first Sunday after New Year bakeries throughout Paris celebrate the Fête des Rois or Festival of Kings by selling unique pastries known as galette des rois. Thought to have its roots in carnival tradition whereby the slave became master for a day, you can buy these delicious golden pies containing a small china figurine and the person who chooses the piece containing the figurine is King or Queen for the day. |
