Rice Harvest Festival – 1 May until 30 June - Festival - Various Venues Celebrating the end of the harvest season the annual Rice Harvest Festival is held at various sites around Bali. Visitors to the festivals are welcome to join in the festivities and are invited to sample the regional cuisine cooked in honor of Dewi Sri, the ‘Rice god’. As part of the celebration the Negara Bull Races, a Balinese tradition, is help in Perancak at the end of the Festival. Visitors and locals alike travel to the region to witness water buffaloes decorated with ornate and colourful headdresses compete in races as 'jockeys' try to coax the beasts along the route of the course. |

Bali Kite Festival – 10 until 13 July - Festival – Padang Galak The tranquil area of Padang, near Sanur Beach, comes to life in the month of July as a sea of colourful kites are seen dotting the sky. Open to children and adults, participants and spectators, international kite fliers and tourists, crowds gather in the vacant paddy fields for the annual Bali Kite Festival. With customary kites almost 4 meters wide and 10 meters long the festival is expected to attract hundreds of teams in their traditional costumes. |
