
| January Procession of the Three Kings – 5 January – Event – Various Venues The Procession of the Three Kings (Cabalgata de los Reyes Magos) is a popular Christmas tradition throughout Spain. Thirty carriages equipped with an estimated 7000 kilograms of sweets traditionally wind their way through Madrid's streets from Retiro Park to the Plaza Mayor via Sol. Celebrations in the capital include theatrical re-enactments, engaging pageants and entertaining puppet shows. During the procession the Kings and their various helpers shower sweets on the huge crowds who gather on the streets of Madrid to view the parade. |

Madrid Marathon - April - Event - Various Venues Over 120,000 runners have crossed the finishing line of the notoriously challenging Madrid Marathon since it began in 1978. The demanding course includes Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor and Palacio Real - all good viewing points from where to watch the day‘s event. Madrid Jazz Festival - October to November - Event - Various Venues Every November, top acts from around the globe assemble in Madrid to perform at the Madrid Jazz Festival.
