Ston Easton Park Hotel Information

General Hotel Information

A superb Palladian mansion set in one of the West Country's most romantic estates, Ston Easton Park exudes elegance, warmth and comfort. Log fires burn, comfortable antique furniture and exquisite paintings beckon, evoking memories of a more leisured age and providing a welcome you might associate with a magnificent private country house. The Library and the magnificent State Rooms are always greatly appreciated by guests, including one of England's earliest surviving Print Rooms with its reminders of the Grand Tours undertaken in the 18th Century. The Palladian Saloon has been described as one of 'the finest rooms in Somerset' and for luxury accommodation near Bath or Wells, Ston Easton Park cannot be equalled.

Location & Directions

Ston Easton Park lies in some of the most beautiful countryside in England. Ancient monuments, glorious gardens and fascinating stately homes are all within easy reach.

To the north are the Cotswolds and Bath with its Roman baths. To the south are Wells Cathedral with its moated Bishop's Palace, Glastonbury with its ruined Abbey and Stourhead, one of the finest landscaped gardens in the world.

By road Ston Easton Park is located on the A37, 11 miles south of Bristol and Bath, and 120 miles from London.
By train 80 miles from London Paddington to Bath Spa.
By air 12 miles from Bristol International Airport, 110 miles from London Heathrow and 135 miles from London Gatwick. Heli-pad on site.

Accommodation

Ston Easton Park's bedrooms are gloriously grand but never intimidating. Many have genuine four poster beds, others coronet beds. All have antique furniture, fine paintings and, of course, enticing views of either the formal or informal side of the landscaped gardens and the parkland beyond.

The bathrooms of the principal bedrooms were converted from the original wig rooms. A magnificent Chippendale four-poster bed and fine panoramic views across the valley of the River Norr are features of the Master Bedroom. The beautiful Chinese Bedroom on the second floor provides spectacular views across the parkland to the south. As you might expect, all the rooms have original period features which, combined with exquisite furnishings, enhance still further the quality of your stay at Ston Easton Park.

Restaurants

The cuisine at Ston Easton Park is of award-winning stature, available in both formal and relaxed settings. The cellars too are famed for their rare wines and vintages, whilst for everyday enjoyment there is an extensive range of New World and table wines. The Cedar Tree restaurant counts amongst the finest restaurants in Bath and Wells. In summer, lunches can be served outside on the front terrace and many visitors choose to hold garden parties and other prestigious events on the front lawn. Prepared picnics and rugs are available for guests who wish to dine in the grounds.

Leisure Activities

Guests love to explore the thirty acres of 18th Century parkland created by Humphry Repton and more recently restored by the outstanding gardener, Penelope Hobhouse. Simply sit and listen to the soothing sound of the River Norr or thrill your senses with a stroll through the cutting garden, source of the fresh flowers at Ston Easton Park. Garden tours taken by our Head Gardener include some history of the garden and a number of do’s and don’ts for all budding gardeners. Garden Tours are given throughout the Spring and Summer months and can be arranged when making your booking with us (The National Amateur Gardening Show is just down the road at Shepton Mallet in September). If you desire a more testing activity, a variety of country pursuits are available.

If golf is your game, there are mid-week golfing breaks available. There is a tennis court within the grounds, and guests can borrow the hotel’s croquet set for a gentle game on the front lawn. The billiard room situated ‘below stairs’ at Ston Easton Park is also available to guests.
