The Mount Somerset Information

General Hotel Information

Introduction

An elegant Regency country house, cradled by both the Quantocks and the Blackdown Hills, the Mount Somerset is noted for its elegance and warmth. It has the warm, inviting feel of a delightful, private country house and, having only 11 bedrooms, gives you the feeling you are staying with friends. High ceilings, large windows and a fabulous, sweeping, circular staircase create a sense of spaciousness and elegance. Real log fires, abundant scatter cushions and antique pictures and ornaments add extra warmth and colour.

Accommodation

Our beautifully proportioned bedrooms are all named after the small villages that surround The Mount Somerset. You'll find notes describing 'your' village in your room - one of the many welcoming touches that also include fresh flowers, luxurious towelling robes and other thoughtful extras. Exquisite fabrics, elegant furniture and comfortable beds complete the experience of total luxury.

Leisure Activities

Everyone needs to get away from it all once in a while - and many, especially those who might feel deprived of fresh air and green fields, choose to do so at The Mount Somerset. Most don't want to do anything much in particular except to sleep, to eat and perhaps to finish the book they started reading on holiday several months ago. Tea on the terrace, a leisurely game of croquet or simply an afternoon enjoying the superb views. What could be more restful?

Location & Directions

Historic attractions such as Stonehenge, Glastonbury Tor and the Georgian city of Bath are all within easy reach. So too are beautiful stretches of coastline. Closer to hand there are picturesque villages complete with pub and cricket green and the Somerset Levels, renowned for their abundant flora and fauna. And, if you're looking for wide open space, Exmoor is only a short distance away.

By car The Mount Somerset is located approximately 2 miles from junction 25 of the M5 motorway, 150 miles from London.

By train 2 hours from London Paddington to Taunton, then 10 minutes by taxi.

By air 45 minutes from Bristol International Airport. Heli-pad on site.
