Hotel Introduction
With its tree-lined streets that seem a million miles away from hectic New York avenues, the Hotel Plaza Athenee manages to offer a retreat feeling while actually being central to the city’s attractions. Attentive, personalized service reminiscent of the finest European hotels is the Plaza Athenee’s forte. The goal is not to meet expectations, but to exceed them, and guests who return again and again agree that they accomplish this mission.

Though it has an intimate Continental feel, the hotel provides a wonderful list of amenities. The sumptuous Arabelle features incredible American cuisine set against the backdrop of a gourmet French restaurant, while Bar Seine is famous for its romance and charm. The extensive Business Centre services and the elegant function spaces are two additional reasons to choose this destination for a holiday.

More like staying in a luxurious guest house than a downtown New York hotel, the 150 rooms and suites are designed to evoke a cozy yet opulent feeling. The posh rooms include fine European fabrics such as Belgian linens, wireless and high-speed Internet access, in-room movies, and large writing desks. Many of the rooms and all of the suites include iPod docking stations, DVD players, and 42-inch plasma TVs, while eight of the 35 suites feature private dining rooms and indoor atriums or outdoor balconies.

Guests first notice the décor at in-house restaurant Arabelle. European and Asian accents such as a gold dome, Murano glass, brass chandeliers, and faux conservatory windows set the perfect mood for the outstanding seasonal menus that feature dishes prepared with local organic ingredients. In 2008, Zagat called it one of the best restaurants in the world. Bar Seine, voted “Best Spot for Romance” by the NY Post, lives up to its name with an atmosphere that includes North African and Asian touches such as velvet curtains, red lacquered walls, onyx sconces, animal print fabrics, and leather floors. It’s also home to the celebrated crystal cosmopolitan.

Hotel Features
The Plaza Athenee offers a marvellous afternoon tea that includes scrumptious homemade treats and award-winning teas. Guests receive a tea card that allows them to taste seven different varieties of tea, which the specially trained staff can customize according to your likes and dislikes.

Le Trianon is the hotel’s meeting and function space, accommodating up to 100 people for business conferences, receptions, and banquets. Ten beautiful windows flood the space with light, while business tools such as a built-in whiteboard and new sound system make the room ideal for every gathering. The Private Dining Room is also available for exclusive dinner parties of up to 24 guests.

Hotel Plaza Athenee is idyllically located on a quiet, tree-lined street surrounded by the lovely townhouses of East 64th Street, only 5-blocks to Midtown Manhattan and the fashionable Upper East Side.
