Hotel Introduction
Originally opened in 1926 under the direction of the celebrated Vanderbilt family, the Barclay, as it was known then, has always been popular within the highest echelon of society circles. Its historic charm endures, and thanks to a $20 million restoration in 1995, contemporary features have been thoroughly incorporated as well. The lobby, for example, was outfitted with marble floors, Tiffany-style skylights, and original cornices and ceilings.

The Barclay treats guests to a wealth of on-site amenities, including the Barclay Bar & Grill, which specializes in nouveau American and Continental cuisine; spacious health club, where guests can stay fit and indulge in relaxing massages; convenient Business Centre; and 18 highly functional meeting and event spaces.

The 686 guest rooms offer an enticing blend of comfortable appointments and business components that allow travellers to keep up with professional obligations. Each room is furnished with digital cable/satellite TV, high-speed Internet, iHome radio alarms compatible with iPod devices, and much more. For an even grander experience, the luxury suites surround guests with elegant décor and graceful appointments sure to please sophisticated tastes.

The Barclay Bar & Grill serves a diverse, luscious menu characterized by innovative American and Continental fare. Simple dishes with unfussy presentations allow the fresh, seasonal ingredients to shine. At the end of the day—or the beginning of an exciting evening—the Barclay Bar provides a comfortable yet lively ambience in which to sip a cocktail or enjoy a light meal. For a more intimate dining experience, the in-room dining menu brings the splendid menu right to your door.

The Fitness Center boasts an incredible 1,500 square feet of exercise and rejuvenation space, complete with state-of-the-art cardiovascular and weight training equipment. Personal training, healthy drinks and snacks, steam room, pro shop, and a variety of massages are also available.

Hotel Features
Its proximity to the United Nations has made the Barclay the hotel of choice for nearly every major head of state in the last several decades, including Ronald Reagan, Francois Mitterrand, and Nelson Mandela. Whether you’re arranging a small gathering for 10 business associates or a social reception for 300 guests, the Barclay’s 18 function rooms offer an ideal solution. A wealth of modern tools—such as high-tech sound and lighting systems—as well as elegant décor, a full-service event planning team, and multi-lingual staff ensure that each gathering is a complete success.
