Hotel Introduction
Jumeirah Essex house is celebrating 75 years as a premier luxury hotel with a $90 million refurbishment that has created an even more breathtaking experience for guests. The renovation is a tribute to the glorious 1920s and 1930s—when the hotel first opened its doors—and incorporates a classic Art Deco design into all of the public and private areas. Of course, modern technology is also standard, making it easy to see why the World Travel Awards voted Jumeirah North America’s Leading Hotel in 2007.

Everything about the Jumeirah Essex House is delightfully different. It starts with South Gate, a new kind of New York restaurant that overlooks beautiful Central Park, and includes a deeply relaxing and personal spa experience, specialty function rooms, and an Art Program complete with on-staff curator.

Delightful guest rooms maintain the Art Deco style, with plush golden carpets, deep red velvets, leather accents, wall-to-wall wood cabinetry units, red leather-framed mirrors, hammered nail studs, and window blinds featuring a leaf pattern. Keeping the rooms modern are high-tech essentials such as flat-panel TVs, a touch-screen control pad, and a colour-changing LED fixture that you can change to create a variety of moods.

Dining
Chef Kerry Heffernan brings his signature fresh, contemporary cuisine to the striking new South Gate—quickly becoming one of Manhattan’s most talked-about restaurants. The Dining Room creates a sleek, modern atmosphere with mirrored glass walls, a roaring fireplace, and a unique glass wine cellar that showcases the vast array of labels waiting for guests. The Lobby Lounge is an ideal locale to enjoy a great meal, traditional afternoon tea, or a cocktail.

Spa
The exclusive spaces within the Spa at Jumeirah Essex House provide an oasis of serenity and tranquillity. Choose from a spa treatment menu of massages, facials, wraps, manicures, pedicures, and scrubs—or simply relax in the separate men’s and women’s lounges and enjoy a sauna and spa cuisine. The exceptional fitness facilities include state-of-the-art cardio machines, all of which include a personal 13-inch Sharp Aquos LCD screen to keep you entertained and motivated, as well as weight training equipment.

Hotel Features
The Art Program at Jumeirah Essex House is headed by the on-staff curator, Katherine Gass, who oversees the rotating exhibits in the lobby art gallery. Other components of the Art Program include an artist-in-residence program, a photography contest, the hotel’s culinary arts, and more.

Meetings
If business is on your mind, the array of conference facilities and boardrooms are sure to set an elegant, professional mood. For social engagements, Jumeirah Essex House offers the Grand Salon, which hosts up to 550 guests within its sumptuous surroundings, or the more intimate Petite Salon, a glamorous site that can accommodate up to 150.
