Hotel Introduction
Shattering the idea of what a luxury hotel is “supposed” to be, Morgans is one of the truly unique hotel experiences in the U.S. The credit goes to legendary French designer Andrée Putman, whose projects include the Guggenheim Museum. Among the most visible results of Putman’s ground-breaking design: the black-grey-white monochromatic décor and an art installation created by French design collective Trafik that’s attached to the lobby ceiling.

Morgans’ iconic restaurant, Asia de Cuba, is a hot ticket for sophisticated New Yorkers and discriminating visitors. Those looking for a more low-key alternative will appreciate the Living Room, which offers an eclectically-designed space where guests can relax with a book, watch TV, or sip a beverage.

The 113 lavishly comfortable guest rooms deliver a retreat from the hectic New York sidewalks. Putman’s innovative touch can be felt here, too, in the custom-designed wool armchairs, metal-inlaid Corian table, La Notte beside lamps, and the black and white chequered pattern in the retro-modern bathrooms. Robert Mapplethorpe photos also grace the spaces. Naturally, high-tech essentials such as flat-screen TVs can be found in every room.

Dining
Insanely popular since it opened its doors, Asia de Cuba serves refreshingly original cuisine that fuses Latin and Asian flavours to create a menu all its own. Designed by Philippe Starck, the interior invites a communal dining experience with a 30-foot-long illuminated marble table, 15-foot-tall photo lightbox featuring a “running waterfall,” and charming living room sections with fireplaces. In the morning, enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast, and refuel all day with coffee and tea in the Living Room.

Hotel Features
As part of the décor-as-art ambience fundamental to Morgans, the lobby ceiling is a canvas for more than the Trafik piece. By day, a pre-set program projects random patterns and colours onto the ceiling. Guests get a chance to do a little lighting design by night, however, as they are invited to change the projection design and witness the results.

Meetings
Morgans provides flexible meeting spaces for both business and social gatherings. Also, the Living Room features a state-of-the-art business centre, where professionals can get a bit of work done in a relaxing environment.
