Hotel Introduction

A fabulous location—just a stone’s throw away from signature NYC landmarks like Central Park and Rockefeller Center—allows guests to take advantage of the city’s sights and then return to the peaceful, luxurious confines of The Peninsula. Your first glimpse into the opulence that awaits is the exquisite lobby, decked out with a chandelier and coffered ceilings.

The building, an imposing 23 stories tall, was built in 1905. It underwent an extensive renovation 10 years ago that retained the hotel’s original Beaux Arts elements while incorporating the latest technology. The revamped landmark hotel boasts such impressive amenities as an ultra-modern spa and health club, distinctive dining, a library-like lounge, and flexible function spaces.

The Peninsula’s 185 spacious guest rooms and 54 suites offer what many call the most comfortable beds you’ll ever sleep on. Other in-room treasures include plasma TVs; fresh flowers and fruit; twice-daily maid service; and bedside panels that control the temperature, lighting, television, and phones. The marble bathrooms are particularly striking, with phones and TVs built into the walls above the tubs, mood lighting, robes, and stall showers with both fixed and hand-held showerheads.

Fives is The Peninsula’s iconic restaurant, so named for its prized place on Fifth Avenue and 55th Street. Known as the ultimate power breakfast destination, Fives also offers leisurely lunches and elegant dinners in its sophisticated dining room. The menu is contemporary American, with dishes that are grand yet not ostentatious. Salon de Ning is a superbly stylish lounge and bar located on the rooftop terrace. Beautiful people come here to see and be seen while sipping inventive cocktails. The refined Bar at Fives is an ideal spot for guests or city professionals to ease their way into the evening, and make sure to check out the Gotham Lounge’s scrumptious afternoon tea.

In the Peninsula Spa and Health Club, an East-meets-West vibe results in an oasis-like space featuring the latest spa services. Feel stress melt away as you take in the spectacular views of Manhattan and indulge in treatments such as massages, facials, body therapies, and salon services. The fitness facilities include top-notch cardio and weight equipment, a sun-lit yoga studio, delightful swimming pool, and personal training.
